Enhancing Asset Management with Anodised Aluminium Labels
Client Overview
Company Name: Barramundi Fish Farm Bins
Industry: Fish Farming Aquaculture
Location: Northern Territory Australia
Background:
Since 1993 we have nurtured our premium saltwater Barramundi on our family farm alongside the majestic Adelaide River in Australia's remote Northern Territory - the spiritual home of the Barramundi. Our annual harvest has grown from 300 kilograms in our first year of sales to over 6000 tonnes of Barramundi per year.
Challenge
To provide a long-term solution to marking MOULDED POLYMER BINS bins that can withstand the environment as the company’s existing labels were prone to wear and tear, leading to frequent replacements and difficulty in tracking bins over time. Additionally, the low surface energy of the polymer bins and harsh industrial environment, including exposure to salt water, chemicals, and extreme temperatures, was causing conventional labels to deteriorate quickly.
Objective
The primary objective was to find a durable and long-lasting labelling solution that could withstand the tough conditions of the manufacturing environment and adhesive that would stick to polymer. The solution needed to:
Be resistant to corrosion, scratching, and fading.
Maintain readability and integrity of information over extended periods.
Integrate with existing asset management systems for seamless tracking.
Solution
Product Used:V200 Polyester XE - Reverse Side Printed - Black Print
Specifications: Material:V200 Polyester XE Adhesive:3M LSE 9472 Perm (Low Surface Energy) Durability: Designed to last 5+ years in external environments Customisation: Reverse Side Printed text, logos, barcodes, QR codes Size: 80mm x 50mm Mounting Options: 3M permanent adhesive or optional mounting holes
Implementation:
1.Consultation: Worked closely with the client to understand their specific requirements and environmental conditions.
2.Design: Customised labels with essential information, including QR Codes/Numbering and printed on the reverse of the material.
3.Deployment: Replaced old labels with V200 labels across all bins. Labels were applied using 3M 9472 permanent adhesive for robust attachment.
Results

The V200 XE labels withstood harsh chemicals and extreme temperatures, significantly reducing the frequency of replacements.
Enhanced resistance to scratching and fading ensured that critical information remained legible, intact and scannable.
Enhanced Asset Management:
- The reverse side printed barcodes and logos facilitated accurate and efficient asset tracking, leading to better inventory management.
- The new labels integrated seamlessly with asset management system, streamlining operations.
Cost Savings:
Reduced costs associated with label replacements and maintenance due to the long-lasting nature of the labels.
Decreased downtime and improved operational efficiency through reliable asset tracking.
Client Feedback:
The labels have performed exceptionally well under tough conditions, and we’ve seen significant improvements in our asset management processes. We highly recommend this solution for any company facing similar challenges.
Conclusion
The implementation of V200 XE labels provided us with a durable, cost-effective solution for their asset management challenges. The successful deployment demonstrates the effectiveness of the labels in industrial (Aquaculture) applications where longevity and resilience are critical.
